ASEAN Ladies’ Circle Heads “Friends Forever” Event in the Netherlands

THE HAGUE 18 December 2019 — Led by the Veredigna Ledda, spouse of Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda, headed the ladies of the Philippine Embassy in The Hague at the “Friends Forever” event organized by the ASEAN Ladies Circle The Hague (ALCTH) on 13 November 2019 at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Netherlands.

“Friends Forever” featured a lecture on “Dutch Relations to ASEAN in Cultural Perspective” by Anton Lutter, Commander of The Knights of Rizal and The Hague Chapter and news contributor of the “Diplomat Magazine”.

In his talk, Lutter highlighted the travels of the Dutch East India Company (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie, VOC) to the Southeast Asian region that resulted to commercial trade and cultural exchanges between region and the Netherlands, including Europe as a whole.  He also also presented artifacts of the rich diversity and uniqueness of the ASEAN cultures found in The Netherlands. 

ALCTH encourages and fosters cordial relationships among the wives and female representatives of the ASEAN missions accredited to the Netherlands.

The Association meets once or twice quarterly and carries out educational, cultural, social, and sports activities. END
