PH Commemorates 30th Anniversary of UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

NEW YORK PM 19 December 2019 — The Philippines reaffirmed its commitment to advance the rights of children during the High-Level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) held on 21 November 2019.
“The Philippines takes this opportunity to renew its solemn commitment to promote, protect, and fulfill the rights of children, and to advance the ideals that brought all countries together 30 years ago to establish this landmark convention for the children,” Philippine Chargé d’Affaires Kira Azucena said.
Chargé d’Affaires Azucena highlighted national efforts aimed at promoting and protecting the rights of children such as the First 1,000 Days Law, the Special Protection of Children in Situations of Armed Conflict Act, the Philippine Action Plan to End Violence Against Children, and the provision of free education, until college, in government institutions.
The meeting celebrated the milestones and successes of the CRC, since its ratification, in transforming the lives of millions of children around the world for the past 30 years. END
