SAN FRANCISCO 22 December 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco hosted a reception for delegates attending the “San Francisco Forum by the Bay,” on 13 November 2019 at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center.

San Francisco Forum by the Bay, an event organized by the San Francisco Filipino American Chamber of Commerce and the San Francisco Cosmopolitan Lions Club, were attended by members of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, businessmen based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and members of the Filipino-American community.

The forum, entitled “Digital Transformations”, aimed to generate active and vibrant discussions in leadership and management, business, finance, science, technology, agriculture, education, health and security.  It also provided opportunities for business matching among delegates based in the Philippines and the United States.

During the event, Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. promoted the Philippines as an investment destination by showcasing economic developments and opportunities in the country.  A video on the “Build-Build-Build” program was shown to showcase the large-scale current and pipelined infrastructure projects.

In addition, the various initiatives being organized by the Consulate were shared, in line with the Spark*Connect*Empower movement, including: the Spark447 space, which provides a co-working space and/or virtual address for Filipino and Filipino-American entrepreneurs and startups; the StartupMeetup, a series of networking events to connect the respective startup ecosystems of the Philippines and the United States; the Spark Chats, a series of Fireside Chats which provides a platform to discuss emerging trends in business and industry; and the SparkBiz, which is a speaker and networking series to promote Philippine companies in the United States.

Through the Forum, Consul General Bensurto encouraged the delegates to network and contribute towards a more connected business community between the Philippines and the San Francisco Bay Area. END
