OTTAWA 23 December 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Ottawa headed by Philippine Ambassador to Canada Petronila P. Garcia hosted the annual consular and economic consultations of Philippine Foreign Service Posts in Canada from 29 November to 1 December 2019.

The principal officers of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa and the Philippine Consulates General from Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto were joined by senior officials from the Office of American Affairs, Office of Strategic Communications and Research, and Office of Consular Affairs of the Department of Foreign Affairs in the meeting.

The annual meeting discussed work programs for the incoming 2020 after an assessment of activities and programs conducted in 2019. The hosting of the meeting is rotated among the diplomatic and consular missions in the Philippines in Canada and has been valuable in ensuring that the needs and expectations of the growing Filipino diaspora in Canada, which is nearing the million mark, is met.
