PH Participates at the 24th Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the CWC

THE HAGUE 23 December 2019 — The Philippine Delegation participated at the 24th Session of the Conference of the States Parties (CSP) to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) held at the World Forum in The Hague, the Netherlands from 25 to 29 November 2019.
The Delegation, composed of representatives from various Philippine government agencies, was headed by Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the CWC, Ambassador Jaime Victor B. Ledda. The other members of the Philippine Delegation were as follows: Atty. Michael P. Ong, Senior Deputy Executive Secretary of the Office of the President, who also read the Philippine Statement during the General Debate; Hon. Jorge Antonio P. Bustos Jr. of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Order and Safety; Commander Brigadier General Fernando V. Felipe of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Munitions Control Center (AFP-MCC); Second Secretary and Consul Ma. Theresa M. Alders of the Philippine Embassy to The Hague; Chief Major Emerson A. Borja of the AFP-MCC Strategy and Performance Management Division; Special Police Major Camilo P. Cascolan, Jr. of the Bureau of Customs; Atty. Genevieve E. Velicaria-Guevarra of the Office of Representative Bustos Chief Political Affairs; and Attaché Jenny J. Pelasol of the Philippine Embassy to the Netherlands.
Senior Deputy Executive Secretary Ong, in his remarks, emphasized the need for a strong Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), as this benefit developing countries such as the Philippines, particularly in terms of capacity building.
Ambassador Ledda hosted a reception on 27 November 2019 for the Philippine Delegation and the Asian Group of the OPCW at the World Forum. END
