BEIRUT 26 December 2019 — More than 1,000 Filipinos, mostly women with some children in tow, arrived in droves on 05 December 2019 at the Philippine Embassy in Beirut to register for the free mass repatriation scheduled in February next year.

This free repatriation project is the Philippine Government’s response to the numerous requests received by the Embassy from Filipino workers who have long overstayed or have recently lost jobs and income opportunities as the country is suffering from economic and financial woes.

The reaction to the Embassy’s advisory has been overwhelming since the Embassy announced the good news on 03 December 2019, only a few days from the start of the registration period.

To avail of the one-time mass repatriation opportunity, all applicants were informed to come personally to the Embassy to fill out forms and submit copies of documents such as passport, birth certificate, and if married, a marriage certificate, which are required by the Directorate General of General Security for the processing of Exit Clearance.

The Philippine Government will provide free air tickets and settle the penalties of those who will be issued clearance by the Lebanese immigration authorities.

The registration for the free mass repatriation was held until 15 December 2019. END
