PH Embassy in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain Celebrates World Children’s Day

BAHRAIN 07 January 2020 –– As part of its celebration of the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and World Children’s Day, the Philippine Embassy in Manama held a meeting with the Filipino Community to discuss the rights of the child and to inform them about the Embassy’s initiatives towards advancing and protecting the rights of children on 20 November 2019 at the Embassy grounds.
Videos published by relevant United Nations agencies discussing the basic rights of the child were also shown to the attendees.
Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver discussed the Rights of the Child to a name and nationality and to access to quality healthcare and education, emphasizing that it is the obligation of parents, guardians, the community and our government to ensure that the rights of Filipino children are protected and respected.
Ambassador Ver also took this opportunity to encourage those who attended the meeting and who are caring for children who are undocumented in Bahrain, to recognize the importance of the rights of these children to a name and nationality and to register them with the Embassy. He explained that the Embassy can assist those in irregular circumstances in order to register the birth of these children and to facilitate their repatriation to the Philippines through the Embassy’s Oplan Kabataan Program.
