LOS ANGELES 09 December 2019 – The Laoag City International Circle (LCIC) celebrated their 15th Anniversary on 26 October 2019 at the Holiday Inn in Torrance, California.

The LCIC is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing education to underprivileged students in Laoag City. To date, the organization has successfully funded and assisted in the education of nurses, teachers, entrepreneurs and of late, accountants.

Third Secretary and Vice Consul Joan Macrise C. Corrado represented Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz as the organization’s Guest Speaker. She commended the officers and members of LCIC for sharing their blessings with our kababayans in the Philippines, particularly in Laoag City, through educational programs and support for their hometown’s community development projects. She also remarked that education is the primary vehicle by which economically disadvantaged students could lift their families out of poverty and acquire means to participate fully in nation-building.

Vice Consul Corrado also led the induction of officers of the LCIC, headed by its President Ms. Josephine Lazo-Carlson. The new officers will continue to lead the organization in engaging the youth and the next generation of Filipino-Americans in LCIC’s activities to inspire them to discover their roots and nurture a genuine love for the Philippines and their hometown.

LCIC’s theme for this year was “Rang-ay”, an Ilocano expression signifying abundance and prosperity, which is also the organization’s guiding philosophy: that prosperity and financial stability should not be limited to the affluent few. The organization believes that it is a condition that must be collectively enjoyed by the community. END
