Filipina Artists Launch Exhibit in San Luis Potosi, Mexico

MEXICO 09 December 2019 –– Filipina artists Melanie Gritzka del Villar and Joanna Vasquez Arong presented their multi-media exhibit “The Ghosts of San Luis Potosi” at the Leonora Carrington Museum in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on 04 November 2019.

The exhibit was part of Del Villar’s ongoing research project related to the cultural links of Mexico and the Philippines established through the Galleon Trade. The artists spent time in the Real de Catorce and El Cerro de San Pedro mines of San Luis Potosi, and together created a multi-media contemporary art exhibit detailing their personal experiences with the locals of the mining towns and the San Luis Potosi’s connection to the Galleon Trade.

The exhibit will run in San Luis Potosi until 27 February 2020. END
