PH Embassy in Nairobi Shares Filipino Christmas with SHOM

NAIROBI 09 December 2019 –– The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi shared with the Spouses of Heads of Missions (SHOM) in Nairobi the experience of a Filipino Christmas celebration with merriment, dancing, and exchanging of gifts at the Philippine Chancery at Mzima Springs Road, Lavington on 03 December 2019.
Madame Marie Marla C. Chua, spouse of Philippine Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua, welcomed the SHOM to the Chancery, which is the first Philippine government property in Africa.
In her remarks, Madame Chua expressed her appreciation to the SHOM for taking time out of their busy schedule to celebrate Christmas at the Philippine Embassy, likewise explaining that Filipinos celebrate the longest Christmas season starting September of each year until the Epiphany of the following year.
The merriment, led by the Imbento Band, Filipino Band in Nairobi, played dance songs and sang Christmas carols with the SHOM.
Madame Chua is an active member of the SHOM, which is an informal organization composed of the Spouses of Heads of Missions. They have different activities which are civic, cultural and charitable in nature. END
