Ambassador’s Cup Chess Tournament 2019 held in Holy Land to Help Calamity Victims in PH

TEL AVIV 10 December 2019 –– The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv recently held the Ambassador’s Cup Chess Tournament 2019 on 30 November 2019. The fund raising event was organized, in cooperation with the Filipino community in Israel, to help more than 300 families affected by the recent typhoon in Cagayan Valley, Philippines.
Ambassador Neal Imperial, in his remarks, welcomed the participants to the chess tournament at the Embassy and commended the community leaders for organizing the activity for a good cause and responding to the needs of the typhoon victims.
Of the 10 chess players, Mr. Rosemar Casabar emerged as the champion. The event was able to raise and donate a total amount of NIS 7,000 (approx. US$2,000) from sponsors or donors (groups, businesses and individuals) including the winners through the effort of organizers from the community: Middle East and African Network of Filipinos Diaspora (MEANFID) Israel, OFWGME DDS Israel, Triskelion Alumni Organization HolyLand and SUGBUANON United Cebuanos in Israel.
