LUXEMBOURG 17 December 2019 –– The Philippine Embassy in Brussels, in cooperation with Philippine Honorary Consul General Alain Kinsch, conducted its fourth consular outreach mission for 2019 at the Philippine Consulate General in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on 14 December 2019.
A total of 53 Filipinos living in Luxembourg, including some from the nearby provinces of Saarland and Rheinland Pfalz in Germany, availed themselves of the Embassy’s consular services, such as passport renewal, applications for reacquisition of Philippine citizenship, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) fingerprinting, legalization of documents and civil registration. Many were able to claim their new passports and other processed documents from the consular team upon request, thereby saving them time, effort, and resources in travelling all the way to Brussels during the regular work week.
As part of the observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), the Embassy’s consular team distributed educational materials from the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) on how to seek help for incidents of domestic violence, sexual abuse and harassment.
Philippine Ambassador to Belgium Eduardo José A. de Vega, who is also accredited as non-resident Ambassador to Luxembourg, attended the Christmas Party of the Samahan ng Mga Pilipino sa Luxembourg, asbl, as Guest Speaker. The event was held at the Double Tree Hilton Luxembourg with 180 Filipino and foreign guests from Luxembourg and neighboring European countries.
Luxembourg is a landlocked country in northwestern Europe surrounded by Belgium, France, and Germany. Despite its small landmass and small population, Luxembourg is the second-wealthiest country in the world when measured on a gross domestic product (PPP) per capita basis.
Most of the more than 600 Filipinos living in Luxembourg are professionals working as auditors, accountants, information technology experts and lawyers in reputable financial institutions. They are held in high regard for their skills and excellent work ethic. END
