PH Consulate General in LA Brings CFO’s Ugnayan Program to San Diego

LOS ANGELES 10 December 2019 –– Philippine Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz and the Consulate General’s Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) team, together with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas’ (CFO) delegation, headed by former Justice Francisco P. Acosta, met various San Diego-based Filipino-American community leaders on 27 November 2019. The meeting was held in coordination with Philippine Honorary Consul in San Diego Atty. Audie J. de Castro.

Justice Acosta, in his remarks, provided updates on CFO programs, particularly on how it reaches out to Overseas Filipinos through its “Ugnayan” program. He also commended Fil-Am community leaders for their support to the President’s economic development agenda.

Another presentation was delivered by CFO Head Executive Assistant Atty. Xerxes E. Cortel. Atty. Cortel discussed the benefits and responsibilities of being a dual citizen.

FilCom organizations that participated in the meeting were the County of San Diego Filipino-American Employees Association headed by Atty. Jose Mallari, Rotary Club of San Diego, San Diego Coalition of Filipino-American Chambers of Commerce (CoFACC), Fore Golf Foundation headed by Femie Villaflores Cupit, and Filipino American Culture Organization.

Also present were Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles Assistance-To-Nationals team Vice Consul Dyan Kristine Miranda-Pastrana and ATN Officer Judelyn M. Cuaresma, and CFO Undersecretary Astravel Pimentel-Naik, Director Maria Regina Angela G. Galias, Chief Emigrant Service Officer and Division Chief Policy Planning and Research Division and Director Mario O. Garcia, Chief Administrative Officer and Division Chief Administrative and Finance Division. END
