PH Consulate General in Toronto Joins Launch of the 500-Day Countdown to Quincentennial Commemorations

CANADA 17 December 2019  –– The Philippine Consulate General’s Sentro Rizal-Toronto joined all Philippine Embassies and Consulates General and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) offices, including Regional Consular Offices (RCOs) and Consular Offices (COs) in the simultaneous lighting ceremony to usher in the 500-day countdown to the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines on 14 December 2019.

The National Quincentennial Committee (NQC), of which the DFA is a member of, was created through Executive Order No. 55 mandated as the Steering Committee of the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines. The theme for the momentous celebration is “Victory and Humanity”.

The Consulate were all lights-off and eagerly awaited the signal to light the Christmas lantern which adorned the Christmas tree.  Afterwards, the Quincentennial theme song, Bagani, was played, and everyone sang along.
