MILAN 22 January 2020 — Consul General to Milan Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez assumed her position as the new Consul General of the Philippine Consulate General in Milan, Italy upon arrival on 17 January 2020. She succeeded Consul General Irene Susan B. Natividad, who completed her tour-of-duty last 07 October 2019.
Prior to her assignment in the Philippine Consulate General in Milan, Consul General Fernandez served as the Deputy Consul General at the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, Canada. She was Minister and Consul General at the Philippine Embassy in London (2006 – 2012) and Second Secretary and Consul at the Philippine Embassy in Beijing (1997 – 2003).
In Manila, she was the Executive Director and Acting Assistant Secretary of the Office of United Nations and International Organizations (2014 – 2016), Director of the Office of European Affairs (2013 – 2014), Acting Director and Director at the Office of Personnel and Administrative Services (2003 – 2006) and as Assistant Director and Acting Director at the Office of Asia-Pacific Affairs (1997).
She is married to fellow diplomat Atty. Francisco Noel Fernandez, currently the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Philippine Embassy in Ottawa, Canada. They have two children.
Consul General Fernandez obtained her degree in Bachelor of Arts, Major in Psychology at the Ateneo de Manila University. END
