PH Embassy in Yangon Promotes PH in First Myanmar Students’ Festival

YANGON 22 January 2020 –– The Philippine Embassy in Yangon participated in the first-ever Myanmar Students' Festival on 12 January 2020 at the Diamond Jubilee Hall of Yangon University.
The event was organized by the Myanmar Private Schools Federation, Private International Schools Association, and Nay Oke Foundation, in cooperation with the Myanmar Ministry of Education.
The festival featured different zones of learning which are Education, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), D.I.Y. (Do-it-yourself), Culinary, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN). Each ASEAN member state held a booth to display souvenirs, handicrafts, posters and general information about their respective country.
Teachers from Thalun International School, led by Ms. Ma. Zenaida De Guzman, took charge in decorating and manning the Philippine booth. Boracay maps, tourist destination luggage tags, Philippine ASEAN magnetic pins, and Philippine flaglets were distributed to students who visited the booth on a first come first serve basis.
The highlight of the Embassy's participation was the performance of the Philippine Embassy Youth Choir, under the tutelage of Third Secretary and Vice Consul Stephanie Alexis Cruz, during the closing ceremony. The choir sang six songs including the ASEAN Hymn, “Pilipinas Kong Mahal”, and “Auld Lang Syne”, which was requested by the Chairman of the Myanmar Private Schools Association U Nay Oke.
The event was attended by more than a thousand students and teachers from various government, private, international and monastic schools from all over Myanmar. END
