JIANGXI 24 January 2020 – The Bayanihan Dance Company, led by its Executive Director Suzie Benitez, performed before an audience of 1200 Chinese government officials, tour and travel operators, culture and tourism enthusiasts, businessmen, and students at the Jiangxi Centre for Performing Arts in Nanchang City for the 2020 New Year Concert of Jiangxi Province on 08 January 2020.

Among those who watched the Bayanihan performance were Jiangxi Political Consultative Conference Chairman Yao Zengke, Jiangxi Vice-Governor Wu Zhongjiong, Jiangxi Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (JXPAFFC) Secretary General Huang Meiling, and Jiangxi Cultural Performance Group Chairman Li Xiaohao.

The event was made possible through the collaboration between the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) through its President Arsenio J. Lizaso, also present during the performance, and JXPAFFC through its President Zhao Hui and is in line with the Cultural Agreement between the Philippines and China for 2019-2023.

With 17 performing artists and five musicians, the Bayanihan Dance Company wowed the audience with a two-hour spectacle, a rendition of dances divided into segments such as “Traditions Renewed”, “Intramuros of Memory”, “Mindanao Mosaic”, and “People Under the Sun”.

The surprise numbers, a Chinese song entitled “Yue liang dai biao wo de xin” and a dance number to the tune of “Mo li hua” completed the already colorful and exciting repertoire.

The New Year concert is Jiangxi’s annual event to usher China’s most important holiday, the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival.

Jiangxi, a southeast Chinese province under the jurisdiction of the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen and covers the Porcelain capital Jingdezhen city, is a sister-city of the province of Bohol.

Officials from the Philippine Consulate General in Xiaman and the Philippine Embassy in Beijing were present during the event. END
