UPLB Signs SCE Partnership Agreement with the PH Consulate General in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO 24 January 2020 – The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), represented by Chancellor Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez Jr., signed the Spark*Connect*Empower (SCE) Partnership Agreement with the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, represented by Consul General Henry S. Bensurto, Jr., on 16 January 2020.
The signing was witnessed by the Consulate officers and Vice-Chancellor for Research and Extension Dr. Rex Demafelis and Engineer Jose Marie Abilay, Business Development Manager of UPLB’s Technology Business Incubator 4.0 project.
In signing the SCE Agreement, UPLB has committed to initiate activities for Filipino-Americans that will spark love for their Filipino heritage and culture, connect them with like-minded networks and individuals, and empower them to take action for the betterment of the country.
The UPLB delegation was in San Francisco to take part in the Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship Startup Bootcamp organized by the University of California (UC)-Berkeley. The Bootcamp aimed to expose international delegates with the latest trends and developments in entrepreneurship in specific industries, such as agriculture and biotechnology. They also held meetings with officials from UC-Berkeley and UC-Davis campuses. END
