Traditional Pampanga Lanterns Light Up PH Embassy in Abu Dhabi Anew

ABU DHABI 03 January 2020 –– Fascinating traditional Pampanga parols (Christmas lanterns) were displayed anew at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi to the delighted the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital’s residents during the Christmas season.  

Philippine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Hjayceelyn M. Quintana said that this is the second time the Embassy held such Filipino Christmas display which is now becoming an annual tradition in Abu Dhabi.

“We thank the City Government of San Fernando, the Philippines’ Christmas Capital, for their generosity in providing the lanterns. They are very vibrant and colorful, the local residents find them very unique and enjoy their dancing lights”, Ambassador Quintana said.

The parols were displayed on 16 December 2019, at the start of Simbang Gabi until the end of December with performances from community chorale groups singing Filipino Christmas carols.

The parol Lighting was led by Ambassador Quintana and attended by members of visiting delegations from the Office of the President and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). END
