10 April 2014 - Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin Tago, who is based in Riyadh but is accredited to the Republic of Yemen, recently visited Sana’a from March 31 to April 3 and met with several officials of the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to discuss various initiatives that would benefits both countries and their nationals.
During the trip to Sana’a, Ambassador Tago met with Ambassador Abdul Malik Al-Eryani, the MFA Chief of Protocol. The Ambassador thanked the Chief of Protocol for the assistance extended by the Ministry to Embassy officials who regularly visit Yemen, and for the assistance extended to the Philippine Consulate in Sana’a headed by the Honorary Consul Mr. Mohamad Al-Jamal.
Ambassador Tago also met with the Director General for Consular and Migrants Affairs, Ambassador Mohamad Al-Omar. During the meeting which lasted for an hour, both officials exchanged information on various consular matters including the reporting of civil registry information for Filipinos in Yemen, the regulation of entry of Filipinos to Yemen who enter on various visas. They also exchanged information on issues such as passports and visa matters.
The Philippine Ambassador to Yemen (non-resident) also met with Ambassador Mekhlafi the Deputy Director General for Asia and Pacific. During the meeting, both discussed various proposed bilateral agreements as well as developments in both regions. Ambassador Mekhlafi congratulated the Philippines for the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro, which was signed in Manila on 27 March 2014. END
