PH Embassy in Phnom Penh 2019 Rizal Day Celebration Highlights Remarkable Qualities of PH Nat’l Hero

PHNOM PENH 02 January 2020 –– With this year’s theme “Jose Rizal: Huwaran ng Pilipino sa Ikadalawampu’t Isang Siglo”, Dr. Jose Rizal’s remarkable qualities were highlighted during the Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh’s 2019 Rizal Day Celebration held on 27 December 2019.

After a wreath laying ceremony at the bust of Dr. Rizal located in the Embassy grounds, selected portions of a documentary-drama entitled “Pluma” were shown that became the reference for an interesting and interactive discussion on the remarkable qualities of Dr. Jose Rizal.

A total of 11 participants were given one letter of Dr. Jose Rizal’s name and were asked to state one inspiring quality of him and describe how he has shown this quality with the help of the documentary. Phnom Penh-based Filipino teacher and consultant Dr. Maria Aplaten served as the facilitator for the program.

Proclamation No. 126 issued in 2001 declares December as Rizal Month, while Rizal Day is celebrated annually on December 30. END
