PH Embassy in Damascus Joins SAMAFIL’S 1st Anniversary Celebration

DAMASCUS 02 January 2020 –– The Philippine Embassy in Damascus, Syria, reaffirmed its recognition of the Samahan ng mga Filipino sa Syria (SAMAFIL) as the sole Filipino community organization on 15 December 2019 at the Armitage Hotel, Damascus, Syria.
During the event, SAMAFIL reasserted its continued support for the Embassy, as it carries out its mandate in advancing the interests of the Philippines and Filipino nationals in Syria. Embassy personnel attended the event in force, headed by Chargé d’Affaires, e.p. and Head of Post Alex V. Lamadrid.
In his remarks, CDA Lamadrid congratulated the officers and members of SAMAFIL in delivering their duties, both to SAMAFIL and to their fellow Filipinos who need Embassy consular assistance. He encouraged every SAMAFIL member to continue assisting the Embassy in its fight against human trafficking of Filipino nationals in Syria, exhorting members to continue being ambassadors of Filipino goodwill to fellow Syrians.
SAMAFIL organized a fund-raising beauty pageant. Donations raised has been earmarked for use in the organizations’ future projects. END
