PH Embassy in Riyadh Conducts Contingency Planning Activities in Ha’il and Buraidah

RIYADH 28 January 2020 — The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh conducted contingency planning activities in Ha’il and Buraidah on 24-25 January 2020 in order to raise the readiness of the Filipino community in the said region on crisis response.
Philippine Ambassador to Riyadh Adnan V. Alonto, together with representatives from the Embassy’s Assistance-to-Nationals Section, Political Section, Police Attaché’s Office, and Foreign Liaison’s Office, met with the members of the Filipino community in Ha’il and Buraidah and provide briefing them on the latest security situation in Saudi Arabia and the general procedures and protocols that will be followed in case a crisis erupts in the Kingdom or in the region.
Ambassador Alonto assured the Filipino community that the situation in Saudi Arabia remains stable and secure. The Philippine government is prepared to assist Filipinos caught in crisis situations abroad, and that the Philippine missions in the Kingdom are continuously preparing for every contingency.
Ambassador Alonto also took the opportunity to check on the general welfare of the Filipino communities in Ha’il and Buraidah, considering that it was his first time to visit said parts of the Kingdom. He noted the request by the Filipino community for more frequent visits and extension of services from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office. Ambassador Alonto assured the Filipino communities in Ha’il and Buraidah that the matter is already being discussed and that appropriate recommendations shall be sent to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as soon as possible.
