Filipinos in Paris Commemorate the 123rd Anniversary of Martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal

PARIS 06 January 2020 –– The Philippine Embassy in Paris, together with the Order of Knights of Rizal (Area of France) and Las Damas de Rizal, celebrated the 123rd Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal at the Embassy grounds on 30 December 2019.
In her address, Philippine Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa Lazaro expressed appreciation for the continued support of the Knights of Rizal (KOR) for the activities of the Embassy. She added that the Embassy’s proposal of installing a bust of Dr. Jose Rizal at the 9th District of Paris in 2020 will be the best projection of the greatness of the Filipino people.
The event commenced with the singing of the Philippine national anthem, and wreath-laying ceremony and followed by the program of the Knights of Rizal. The program was well-attended by the Philippine Embassy officers and staff and leaders of the Filipino community. END
