PH Embassy Participates in Annual Meeting with University of Warsaw Students

WARSAW 29 January 2020 — The Philippine Embassy in Poland participated in the 25th Annual Meeting of diplomats with the incoming first-year students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the University of Warsaw, on 23 January 2020.
The University of Warsaw is the biggest and one of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in Poland, with a highly regarded research center. Among its notable alumni are pianist/composer Frédéric Chopin, several Nobel Prize winners, and a number of Polish presidents and prime ministers.
Philippine Ambassador to Poland Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz joined 12 other ambassadors representing Asian and African countries in a two-hour program, who were all invited onstage to speak to the students gathered. Ambassador Ruiz took the opportunity to talk briefly about the state of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Poland, and how efforts are being made to increase academic exchanges between the two countries as a means to strengthen cultural ties. The students were also encouraged to explore beyond the campus and seek knowledge that can be gained through travel to other countries and cultures.
The Philippine Embassy engages local students from various schools at all levels, from grade school through college level, several times in a year as a regular part of its cultural and public diplomacy program. END
