MOSCOW 31 January 2020 — The Philippine Embassy in Moscow presented a 2019 year-end report to the public through a live webcast on its Facebook Page (@PhlinRussia) on 19 January 2020. Among the highlights presented during the year-end report webcast were the visit of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and of other high Philippine officials, such as then Speaker and former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, several events and receptions to promote Philippine products, tourism, investments, fashion, art, history and culture, including a two-day Philippine Street Fair that had over 2,000 guests, the holding of the 2019 overseas elections, the increasing number of Filipinos given assistance including repatriation, the efforts to curb illegal recruitment, and work on the negotiation of a bilateral labor agreement, and 16 consular outreach missions, among others.
During the webcast, the Embassy also touched on their work and plans for 2020. The Embassy reiterated their appeal to those engaging in illegal recruitment. The Embassy Team once again made a special appeal to Filipino nationals in particular who continue to illegally bring Filipinos to Russia and in many cases charging exorbitant fees for non-existent jobs.
The Embassy Team also answered questions that were sent in by the viewing audience by text and private message. The webcast was the first Kapihan sa Pasuguan or townhall meeting for 2020 and was titled “e-Kapihan: Usapang Pasuguan.” END
