PH Embassy in Tokyo Promotes People-to-People Linkages Through Disaster Response Cooperation

TOKYO 04 February 2020 –– Philippine Ambassador to Japan Jose C. Laurel V recently met with Board Member of the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia (AMDA) Tae Namba to discuss disaster management efforts following the eruption of the Taal Volcano.
Ms. Namba provided information on AMDA’s relief missions in Santo Tomas, Batangas while Ambassador Laurel, hailing from Batangas himself where he served as Governor several years ago, briefed Ms. Namba on the current situation in Taal.
The Ambassador commended AMDA for its humanitarian activities as it promotes people-to-people links between the Philippines and Japan. As President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s have remarked in the past, “Japan is a friend closer than a brother. That means Japan is a friend unlike any other”.
AMDA is a non-governmental, non-profit organization involved in humanitarian activities in the medical healthcare sector. It was founded in 1984 in Okayama City. END
