MILAN 07 February 2020 — Consul General to Milan Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez attended a presentation and business to business (B2B) networking event led by the Department of Tourism (DOT) on 29 January 2020.
In her opening remarks, Consul General Fernandez said, “There was a 15 percent increase in the number of Italians visiting the Philipines between 2018 and 2019; 35,178 Italians visited the Philippines in 2018, while figures as of October 2019 indicate that there were 30,350 Italians who visited the PH (up 9.15 percent from the same period of the previous year). This sustained growth in the market outpaced by about four percent of the general outbound travel growth rate from Europe”.
“The Philippines is learning a lot from other tourism markets, including Italy, in the promotion and protection of tourism. It is hoped that by enforcing responsible tourism management, the Philippines would be able to reach its targets for tourism”, Consul General Fernandez added.
The DOT, led by Tourism Attaché Gerardo Panga and Chief Tourism Operations Officers Raymund Glen Agustin, brought a total of five tour operators, such as Travelite Travel and Tours Co., Annset Holidays, Inc., Intas Destination Management, Inc., Travelexperts, Inc., and Blue Horizons Travel & Tours, Inc.
The General Manager of Interface Tourism Italy, the agency commissioned by DOT to promote the Philippines in Italy, the General Manager of Singapore Airlines, and members of the local press, were also in attendance. END
