PH Consul General in Chicago Welcomes New Japanese Envoy to Chicago

CHICAGO 10 February 2020 — Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin welcomed new Japanese Consul General to Chicago Kenichi Okada during the latter’s call at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago on 06 February 2020.
Consul General Jamoralin and Consul General Okada, who is in charge of 10 Midwest states, discussed a wide range of topics of mutual concern, including Chicago Consular Corps activities, the Filipino and Japanese communities in the Midwest, the steps taken against the novel coronavirus outbreak, economic and cultural diplomacy efforts in the Midwest, bilateral economic relations and overseas development assistance of Japan (including humanitarian aid) to the Philippines, and the strong political ties of the two countries.
Consul General Okada is a career diplomat who had previously completed tours of duty in Beijing, Washington D.C., Seoul, Taipei and Shanghai. Prior to his assignment in Chicago, he served as Deputy Assistant Minister at the Minister’s Secretariat, Consular Affairs Bureau, and Intelligence Analysis Service of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
