14 April 2014 – Philippine Ambassador to Belgium Victoria Bataclan expressed on February 16 her appreciation for the receipt of a donation worth 8,031 euros from Actie Warm Vlaanderen of the Christen-Democratisch & Vlaams (CD&V) party for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the Philippines.
Actie Warm Vlaanderen (Action Warm Flanders) is a fund-raising activity of the CD&V which primarily features the selling of orange gloves from November 12, 2013 to February 16, 2014. Proceeds went to the charity of each province and to the over all solidarity campaign for the typhoon victims.
The results of the campaign were made known during CD&V’s Family Day event which offered featured the showing of “De Tovenaar van Oz” (The Wizard of Oz) at the Capitole Theater in Ghent. “De Tovenaar van Oz” is a production of the National Youth Musical Theater Foundation in Amsterdam.
CD&V is currently the largest party in the Flemish Parliament and is leading the Flemish Government. END
