Consul General to Manado Addresses the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines in Bali, Indonesia

MANADO 13 February 2020 — Consul General to Manado Oscar Orcine was one of two keynote speakers of the First International Annual Convention and Research Forum 2020 held on 31 January 2020 in Mercure Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia.

The said convention is made possible by the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Educators of the Philippines (COHREP) with the theme “Celebrating Decades of Innovations in Hospitality and Tourism Education”. It was attended by 140 educators and academics coming from the top universities and colleges of hospitality, tourism and restaurant in the Philippines.

Consul General Orcine highlighted the “Contribution of the hospitality and restaurant educators to cultural promotion and economic diplomacy emphasizing that hospitality and tourism managers and educators are important allies of Filipino diplomats in their mission to project the image and spread awareness of Filipino culture and heritage around the world”

“The Philippine Consulate General in Manado conducts culinary diplomacy in introducing Filipino food and culture to Indonesians”, Consul General Orcine added. He spoke about Filipino food activity last year where local Indonesian chefs have been inspired to learn more about Filipino dishes. Additionally, Consul General Orcine encouraged COHREP to be a partner of the Consulate General in partnering with colleges and universities in Manado on capacity building in hospitality, restaurant, and tourism management and education.

Consul General Orcine also promoted the newly established air connectivity through Garuda Indonesia direct flights between Manado and Davao. He also announced that Philippine Airlines (PAL) Express will make its maiden flight on 31 March 2020. END
