MILAN 13 February 2020 – “Weaving Ties: Manila to Milan” is the first featured activity in 2020 of the Likhang Pilipino Series of the Sentro Rizal of the Philippine Consulate General in Milan. The art exhibit is open from 10 to 14 February 2020 at the Galleria Filipina of the Consulate.
The exhibit artists are Ms. Mirei Ong-Monticelli and Ms. Julia Cris Villamonte, both university graduates from the Philippines who took masteral studies in industrial design and strategic design at the Politecnico di Milano. Their creations, which are predominantly hand-woven, are sculptural lighting projects made of banana fiber, and woven baskets and mats.
Philippine Consul General to Milan Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez graciously hosted a merienda on 10 February 2020 to inaugurate the exhibit, where friends, artists and members of the Filipino community were invited. END
