CHICAGO 14 February 2020 – Newly arrived Indonesian Consul General Meri Binsar Simorangkir paid a courtesy call on Philippine Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin at the Consulate grounds on 11 February 2020.

The two Consuls General discussed a wide array of issues and concerns, including the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, the US-ASEAN Special Summit to be held in Las Vegas in March 2020, the ASEAN community in Chicago, Chicago Consular Corps activities, the coronavirus outbreak, and the economic and cultural diplomacy efforts in the US Midwest.

Consul General Simorangkir is a career diplomat who has held different positions in the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as the Head of the Bureau of Finance prior to his assignment in Chicago. He also served at the Indonesian missions in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Egypt. He joined the Indonesian diplomatic service in 1993. END
