VATICAN 19 February 2020 – Upon the invitation of the Vatican’s Congregation for Catholic Education which has expressed its interest to invite the Philippines to take part in the Global Compact on Education, Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See Grace Relucio Princesa attended Vatican’s conference on education from 06 to 07 February 2020, hosted by the Pontifical Academy for Social Sciences.

The Global Compact is an initiative promoted by Pope Francis who has invited to the Vatican dialogue leaders of educators, world religions, international, and humanitarian organizations regarding  the vital need to engage everyone to shape the future of our planet. On 14 May 2020 with participants coming from all over the world.

The Philippine has the opportunity to take part in a global alliance for an educational process that will develop the society and solidarity.

Through this initiative, Pope Francis affirms that the concern for education is a concern for future generations and therefore for the future of humanity.

In preparation thereof, a series of seminars and workshops have been organized relating to important themes which are interreligious dialogue, human rights, peace-building, ecology, solidarity, and issues directly concerning the Pact for Education.

As an African proverb states “it takes a whole village to educate a child”. Accordingly, an “Educational Village” will be created in the Vatican, in which all people uniting studies and everyday life, teachers, students and their families, and civil society in its intellectual, scientific, artistic, athletic, political, business and charitable dimensions will share the task of forming a network of open human relationships as sign of fraternity.
