PH Embassy in Yangon Conducts Third Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar

MYANMAR 19 February 2020 — The Philippine Embassy in Yangon conducted its third Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) for Filipino workers in Myanmar on 16 February 2020 at the Parkroyal Yangon Hotel.
The seminar was attended by 36 Filipinos.
Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr., in his welcome remarks, reminded the newly-arrived Filipinos to respect and be mindful of the laws and policies of Myanmar to make their stay in Myanmar safe and worthwhile.
Deputy Director U Aung Thiha and U Tay Za of the Department of Immigration discussed Myanmar Immigration laws and policies, the different types of visas, stay permit, and the use of the Myanmar e-visa. Department of Labour Director U Aung Naing, discussed Myanmar labor laws, rights of workers, and labor dispute mechanisms while National University of Arts and Culture’s Dr. Lei Lei Aung provided information on Myanmar culture, traditions, and the do's and don'ts for foreigners.
Pilipinas.MM President Paterno Alpajora introduced to the attendees the Filipino community organization and discussed their previous and upcoming activities, while FilCom member Mr. Marlon Dela Cruz, shared his experiences, lessons learned, and best practices on transportation and commuting in Myanmar.
Third Secretary and Vice Consul Jan Michael B. Gomez briefed the participants on the various services (consular, assistance to nationals) offered by the Embassy. He also gave an update on the status of the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) and provided health and safety measures against the said virus. END
