QBO Delegation Calls On PH Consul General in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO 27 February 2020 — A delegation from the QBO Innovation Hub called on Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. on 14 February 2020 at the Philippine Center. 

QBO is a public-private partnership innovation hub that caters to Philippine startups.  It was founded by Department of Science and Technology, Department of Trade and Industry, Ideaspace and JP Morgan. It currently serves as an incubator/accelerator to over 350 startups in the Philippines. 

The QBO delegation is consisted of the Operations Head Natasha Dawn Bautista, Program Lead for Incubation Rosstyn Fallorina, and Program Associate for Startup Development Carlo Yaptinchay,

The delegation shared that their trip to San Francisco was primarily to learn from startup enablers, venture capitalists, and founders with the objective of benchmarking the Philippine startup ecosystem.  They also promoted opportunities for Silicon Valley groups to partner and engage with the Philippines.

During their trip to San Francisco, the QBO delegation participated in the Startup Grind Global Conference last 11-12 February 2020, and held meetings with Y Combinator, Plug and Play, 500 Startups, and the University of California-Berkeley’s Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (SCET). 

The QBO delegation met with Kalaworks, which is developing the Philippine Center’s 3rd Floor (projected to open by May or June 2020).  Kalaworks shall be hosting the Spark 447 incubator, which shall provide a co-working space, mentorship and acceleration programs, networking opportunities, among others, to Philippine startups.
