15 April 2014 - In solidarity with the Filipino community in Timor-Leste, the Philippine Embassy in Dili joins in the opening ceremony of the Filipino Sports Fest organized by the Association of Filipinos in East Timor (AFET) last April 13.

In her remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Timor-Leste Maria Aileen H. Bugarin commended the members of the AFET board, led by their President, Judy Rona Madamba, for organizing the event that promotes camaraderie and esprit de corps among the Filipinos in Timor-Leste.

The Sports Fest will be a two-month weekend event with competitions in basketball, volleyball and badminton.

At the opening ceremony, winners were declared for best uniform, best cheering squad performance and most popular escort and muse. The winners were picked by a panel of judges which included Third Secretary and Vice Consul Maurice A. Tiempo. END
