CHICAGO 02 March 2020 – The Philippine Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin held a press briefing on 21 February 2020 at Max’s Restaurant (Seafood City) in Chicago.
Consul General Jamoralin discussed, among others, the film “Quezon’s Game”, a critically acclaimed Filipino movie about President Manuel L. Quezon’s heroic rescue of 1,200 Jewish refugees fleeing the Holocaust. The film is being screened at Century 16 Deer Park 21600 W Field Parkway Deer Park, Illinois 60010 until 26 February 2020. Illinois-based Actor David Bianco, who portrayed Col. Dwight Eisenhower in the movie, provided an overview of the film and answered questions from the press.
The Consul General likewise encouraged the attendees to join the upcoming 2020 Very Important Pinoy Tour (VIP Tour) from 19 to 26 July 2020 in Manila, Iloilo, and Boracay. A video of the 2019 VIP Tour held in Manila, Bataan, Clark, and El Nido, Palawan, and positive testimonies of participants from the Midwest were also shown. Consul General Jamoralin also promoted the third United States Midwest Youth Leaders Immersion Program (YouLeaD 3) to be held from 10 to 18 July 2020 in Manila, Caloocan, Subic, and Bataan. Consul General Jamoralin also invited the group to attend the US-wide Philippine Independence Day being organized in Washington D.C. by the Philippine Embassy in Washington on 13 June 2020.
Consul General Jamoralin and Consul Ryan Gener also provided updates on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), including the latest travel advisory issued by the Philippines.
The Philippine Consulate officials also discussed and encouraged all Filipinos, including dual citizens, to participate in the ongoing overseas voters’ registration (OVR) and exercise their right to vote on 09 May 2022. END
