15 April 2014- Filipino-Australian Sous Chef Marx Canoy conducted on April 02 a demonstration on the preparation and presentation of several dishes using Philippine ingredients at the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney. The dishes comprised of canapés and a salad which could be easily prepared and served during meetings and receptions.

Chef Canoy promotes the use of healthy ingredients, including malunggay leaves. One of his canapé recipes uses malunggay pancakes as a base. He also demonstrated the preparation and use of grilled, caramelized kalamansi in mini-burgers. He said that it his objective to popularize and promote wider appreciation and acceptance of Filipino cuisine in the Australian food scene.

Marx Canoy is author of “Food Feast: Traditional to World-Class Philippine Cuisine,” which won the Bronze Medal for the Cooking/Ethnic/Holiday Category of the 2013 Living Now Book Awards. A former boxer, he is now at work on a second book featuring famous Filipino boxers and their health regimen which includes a healthy diet. END
