15 April 2014 – The Philippine Consulate General in Sydney is working with some importers in promoting Philippine coconut products in Australia.
Philippine Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis welcomed the information from Ms. Eleanor Ho, Marketing Director of CocoRoselle, that organic, low glycemic index (GI) and raw coconut sugar, organic gluten-free coconut flour and raw virgin coconut oil from the Philippines is now available in most of the Australian health food stores through distribution by CocoRoselle.
Ms. Ho was introduced to these products when she visited and stayed in the Philippines two years ago. A firm believer in the products’ nutritional and other benefits, Ms. Ho approached the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney in October last year to discuss the launch of CocoRoselle in Australia. She said that CocoRoselle will soon be expanding to other countries and that she also intends to expand the company’s product range from the Philippines.
According to the product brochure of CocoRoselle, its Philippine-sourced coconut sugar is 100% organic and is a healthy, low GI substitute to the refined and processed white and brown sugar. The organic and 100% gluten-free coconut flour is made from fresh matured coconut flesh, naturally grown and harvested in the Philippines. The virgin coconut oil can be used as a health food as well as for youthful-looking skin.
A display of the CocoRoselle products was held at the Consulate General during the Biannual Meeting with Filipino community leaders and media on March 26. Several Filipino leaders and media practitioners were surprised to learn about the health benefits of the Philippine-sourced coconut products and said that they were very impressed with the quality of the products from CocoRoselle.
Consul General Louis recently met with Ms. Ho and Ms. Myra Castellano-Hegarty, Exclusive Distributor in Australia of Kabugwason coconut décor and home ware products, to discuss possible collaboration especially in promoting their respective products.
Ms. Hegarty represents the “My 8th Day,” a company that designs, trains, produces & markets products from coconut, recycled materials and indigenous materials from the Philippines. The company is engaged in a livelihood program established in Brgy. Kabugwason, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, where women are taught skills such as making handbags, home ware & decors, providing them stable employment. END
