Filipino Singing Duo AC2 Wins 3rd Place at X-Factor Greece

ATHENS 26 December 2019 — Filipino singing duo AC2, compromised of Mr. Anthony Kier Carbonel and Ms. Eunice Christel Manigbas, won 3rd place at the Grand Finals of X-Factor Greece on 18 December 2019.
With over a thousand hopefls at the open auditions held in Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece and Nicosia, Cyprus last summer, AC2 made it to the top 16 after successfully hurdling the show’s Four-Chair Challenge and a series of bootcamp activities under the guidance of four Greek celebrity coaches.
X-Factor Greece was streamed on the internet TV Channel “Open Beyond TV” which allows online app viewers in Greece and Cyprus to cast their votes. The duo’s rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Shallow” was the only performance in X-Factor Greece that was also featured on the Global Youtube Channel (https://youtu.be/Rg3DqMRhTy0).
The duo was formed after the DZMM Global Pinoy Singing Idol 2018 held at Gazi Music Hall in Athens where Mr. Carbonel took home the grand prize while Ms. Manigbas garnered 2nd runner-up and The Filipino Channel’s People Choice Award.
Mr. Carbonel and Ms. Manigbas were both born in Greece to Filipino migrant workers. Only 18 years old, Mr. Carbonel is currently studying at the Philippine School in Greece. He is also a chorus member of the Greek production of the musical “Hairspray” which will run until April 2020 at the Teatro Akropol in Athens. He was featured in the DFA’s “Filipinos Abroad” series. Ms. Manigbas is a 24-year-old graduate of the Philippine School in Greece and the Adventist University in the Philippines. She is currently working in the business processing outsourcing industry in Athens. END
