Filipino Scientist Takes Part in Australian Research Fellowship in Canberra

CANBERRA 04 March 2020 – Filipino scientist Dr. Dennis Peque was selected as one of 14 fellows from nine countries in the John Dillon Fellowship (JDF) of the Australian Centre for International Agriculture Research (ACIAR) on 02 March 2020 in Canberra.
Dr. Peque is Dean and Associate Professor at the Visayas State University College of Forestry and Environmental Science. The four-week fellowship program provides training in leadership, media, communications, policy, and research management for outstanding young agricultural scientists or economists.
The JDF fellows were hosted in a welcome ceremony on 02 March 2020 in Canberra by ACIAR Chief Executive Officer Andrew Campbell. They will travel to Queensland for their structured program with government, private, and academic institutions.
ACIAR has over 35 years of partnership with the Philippines. In December 2018, ACIAR and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research Development (PCAARRD) signed a ten-year agreement to commit to longer research programs and explore co-investment models to further strengthen capacity building program.
