PH Embassy in Damascus, Filcom Celebrate Valentine’s Day

DAMASCUS 05 March 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Damascus, headed by Charge d’Affaires and Consul General Alex V. Lamadrid, attended the Valentine’s ball and coronation of Miss Valentine’s 2020 organized by Samahan ng mga Filipino sa Syria (SAMAFIL), the Filipino community’s umbrella organization on 23 February 2020 at Blue Tower Hotel in Damascus.
Chargé d’Affaires Lamadrid crowned Ms. April Cruz as 2020 Miss SAMAFIL Valentine.
The said Valentine’s activity, which was attended by more than a hundred guests, was able to raise funds for the future project of SAMAFIL.
In his remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Lamadrid thanked SAMAFIL for conducting outreach programs for the wards of the Filipino Workers’ Resource Center (FWRC) and for its full support against human trafficking. He reminded the overseas Filipinos (OFs) that the Embassy repatriation of OFs is open to all Filipinos.
Chargé d’Affaires Lamadrid likewise encouraged the Filipino community to register in the Embassy’s Overseas Voting Registration (OVR) for the 2022 Presidential Elections. He invited the OFs to the Embassy’s activity on 08 March 2020, in celebration of the International Women’s Day.
Chargé d’Affaires Lamadrid concluded by advising the Filipino community to take extra measures and protect themselves against the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). END
