DAR ES SALAAM 29 January 2020 – Philippine Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua presented his credentials to Tanzanian President John Joseph Pombe Magufuli on 28 January 2020 at the State House of Tanzania.
During the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Chua conveyed the felicitations of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the Filipino people to President Magufuli and the people of Tanzania. He stated that although the countries are geographically distant, they share the same commitment to democracy, social justice, and development.
Ambassador Chua also thanked Tanzania for the kind hospitality extended to the Filipinos working in Tanzania, who have provided substantial contribution to the development of the country.
Finally, Ambassador Chua expressed his hope that during his tour of duty he will succeed in his endeavor of creating opportunities for future projects and furthering existing bilateral relations between the Philippines and Tanzania.
President Magufuli expressed his confidence that Ambassador Chua would achieve his goals to strengthen ties between the Philippines and Tanzania. He also commented that there is a community called Chwa at the southern part at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and as the Philippine Ambassador has the surname Chua, he hoped that Ambassador Chua would also spend some time in Tanzania.
Lastly, President Magufuli extended an invitation to President Duterte to visit Tanzania. President Magufuli was elected as President in 2015 and is the current Chairman of the South African Development Council. END
