Philippine Ambassador to Nairobi Presents Credentials to Burundi President

BUJUMBURA 05 March 2020 – Philippine Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua presented his credentials to President Burundi Pierre Nkurunziza on 07 February 2020 at the State House of Burundi.
Ambassador Chua conveyed to President Nkurunziza the warm felicitations of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the Filipino people to President Nkurunziza and the people of Burundi. He stated that, despite being on different continents, the Philippines and Burundi share the same values of democracy, peace, and social justice.
President Nkurunziza expressed his hopes that both countries would continue good relations with each other and that Ambassador Chua could assist in raising awareness for the possible business and investment opportunities in Burundi for the mutual benefit of its peoples.
Ambassador Chua assured President Nkurunziza that during his tour of duty he will endeavor to further economic cooperation and strengthen the existing bilateral bond between the Philippines and Burundi.
President Nkurunziza assumed the Presidency on 26 August 2005. He is currently serving his third term as President. He was the Chairman of the National Council for the Defense of Democracy-forces for the Defense of Democracy (CNDD-FDD), the ruling party, until he was elected as President of Burundi in 2005. END
