UGANDA 06 March 2020 – Philippine Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua presented his Credentials to Ugandan President General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on 27 February 2020 at the State House in Entebbe, Uganda.

Ambassador Chua conveyed the warm felicitations of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to President Museveni, and added that they share a similar vision for their countries and peoples, and the common commitment to democracy, social justice, development, and progress.

President Museveni expressed his admiration for President Duterte especially his war on drugs aimed at protecting future generations of Filipinos against the degradation brought by the scourge of addiction.

Ambassador Chua expressed his hopes that during his tour of duty he will succeed in his endeavor to promote further the existing bilateral relations between the Philippines and Uganda.

The President in return expressed his confidence that Ambassador Chua would achieve his goals and signified his willingness to collaborate with the Philippines.

President Museveni, considered one of the Founding Fathers of African Democracy, has been the President of Uganda since 1986. He led a rebellion that toppled the notorious leader Idi Amin.

President Museveni surprised Ambassador Chua by remarking on his surname and pronouncing it at “Chwa,” which is the surname of one of the legendary Ugandan King. END
