BERLIN 09 March 2020 – Philippine Ambassador to Germany Ma. Theresa Dizon-De Vega called on the Minister President of Lower Saxony Stephan Weil at the State Chancellery in the State’s capital of Hanover on 04 March 2020.

During the meeting, Ambassador Dizon-De Vega and Minister President Weil exchanged views on developments in the Philippines, Germany, the overall state of Philippine-Germany relations, and in Europe as a whole. Minister President Wiel was pleased to hear that the Philippines is experiencing a steady growth trajectory, despite the economic challenges in other regions.

Ambassador Dizon-De Vega and Minister President Weil likewise mentioned the increasing number of Filipinos in Lower Saxony which is currently around 1,600. Minister President Weil noted that many of them are contributing to the professional sectors and also to the German healthcare system which is need of more nursing professionals.

Ambassador Dizon-De Vega extended an invitation to the Minister President to visit the Philippines in the future to see first-hand the economic developments in the country.

The Philippine flag was displayed prominently with the German flag and the emblem of the State of Lower Saxony at the State Chancellery during Ambassador Dizon-De Vega’s visit. END
