PH Consul General Welcomes Sultan Kudarat State University in Manado

MANADO 10 March 2020 — Philippine Consul General to Manado Oscar G. Orcine welcomed officials of Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU), headed by University President Dr. Rolando F. Hechanova who arrived in Manado on 28 February 2020 for a four-day visit.
The delegation was joined by Indonesian Consul General Dicky Fabrian of the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao.
The delegation traveled to Manado to present a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to their counterparts in the University of Sam Ratulangi (UNSRAT), one of the top state-owned university in Indonesia and the biggest in the province of North Sulawesi.
The SKSU-UNSRAT MOU will pave the way for student and faculty exchange, program development, and cooperation in research by the parties. Consul General Orcine urged SKSU officials to develop research projects that bear on the prospects of Mindanao-North Sulawesi trade, the sustainable management of EEZ resources (with focus on tuna migration and management), and creative legal frameworks for Philippine-Indonesia cooperation in the EEZ.
The delegation included officials from SKSU’s administration, academic affairs, legal affairs, research and development, arts and sciences, biotechnology and tissue culture center, and fisheries, as well as deans of colleges.
UNSRAT officials agreed to visit the SKSU campus in Mindanao for the signing of the MOU. END
