Luxembourg Foreign Minister Welcomes ASEAN Ambassadors to Promote ASEAN-Luxembourg Business Ties

LUXEMBOURG 12 March 2020 – The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg, in coordination with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, organized a business forum on 03 March 2020 entitled “ASEAN Day: Business Opportunities between Luxembourg and ASEAN”. Around 100 participants from more than 60 Luxembourg companies participated in the forum, which had panels and speakers from different sectors and institutions, including all ASEAN missions in Brussels.

Director General of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce Carlo Thelen opened the event by expressing Luxembourg’s interest in pursuing opportunities in the ASEAN region. He cited the success of Luxembourg businesses such as Champ Cargosystems and Jan De Nul Group which have substantial operations in the Philippines and ASEAN.

Philippine Ambassador to Belgium Eduardo José A. de Vega addressed the event on behalf of ASEAN Missions, mentioning that the event signifies high interest and high ambition on the part of the Luxembourg business community in engaging ASEAN. “As the current Chair of the ASEAN Brussels Committee, I would like to express that the interest and ambition on the part of ASEAN is very much mutual,” Ambassador De Vega added.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn hosted a luncheon for all ASEAN Heads of Mission, where there was an exchange of views on regional issues. END
