CHICAGO 02 January 2020 — After the recent success of the 2nd Paskuhan sa Chicago held last 14 December 2019 at St. Hilary Church, Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin sat for an interview with Mr. Jan Paul Ferrer of the Midwest Pilipino American Coalition (MPAC) at Can TV. Mr. Ferrer, representing ISFFA Chicago, also co-chaired with the Philippine Consulate General, the 2nd Paskuhan sa Chicago.
The interview dealt with the evolution and process of realizing a community-wide event in Chicago where the planning committee was composed of Filipino-American organizations, big and small.
Consul General Jamoralin discussed about the importance of unity and cooperation among various Filipino-American organizations which shared common interest and heritage. She thanked all the participating organizations who invested their time to make the 2nd Paskuhan sa Chicago a reality.

Mr. Ferrer also asked about future initiatives and projects of the Philippine Consulate in the coming year.
With the upcoming US presidential election in November 2020 and Philippine elections in May 2022, Consul General Jamoralin stressed the need for the overseas Filipinos in the United States to be counted and their voices to be heard in the ballot box. The Consul General emphasized the need for all Filipino-Americans to exercise their right to vote in the coming elections.
The Philippine Consulate is planning to hold its 2nd Filipino-American Voters Eduation Forum. The first Fil-Am Voters forum was held last 25 August 2018 at Seafood City in cooperation with the Cook County Clerks Office and National Federation of Filipino-American Associations. Consul General Jamoralin also invited Filipino citizens and dual citizens to register as Philippine overseas voter at the Philippine Consulate. The registration for the Philippine Overseas Voting started on 19 December 2019 until November 2021.
Consul General Jamoralin announced that the 2nd Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar for Filipinos (PAOS) will be held in Omaha, Nebraska on 18 April 2020, following the first PAOS held last 19 August 2019 for the newly arrived Filipino teachers in Chicago. A similar seminar is also being planned for other midwest states.
Philippine American Cultural Foundation President Ruben Salazar and Mr. Baron Lloyd Cabalona of FYLPRO were also present during the interview to discuss about the various projects of their organization.
Consul General Jamoralin and Mr. Salazar also invited all Filipinos and Filipino-Americans to join the next Very Important Pinoy Tour (VIP) tour on 19-26 July 2020 that features top destinations in Manila, Iloilo and Boracay. END
